Midgard - Heroic Battles
-
Short post about my favouritr wargaming rules for the moment, Midgard -
Heroic Battles by James Morris.
I am not totally objective as I been involved in...
Which is actually nothing special, but it sounded cool for a title...
This week saw a nice stack of things arrive in the mailbox, first and foremost the Horns of Hashut warband from WarCry, because the Father of Darkness is back baby!
I also received a nice set of anime figures, prizes I won over at Tokyo Catch, with Toga, Lemillion and Nezuko joining the collection.
From a mate over at TSA, I took over some resin figures. A nice heap of 25 Lost Kingdom Miniatures warriors, as well as a group of Fabelzel warriors and bull centaurs. That is a lot of blunderbuss power to add to my ranks of the return of the Clan Vongalazthag!
So Warhammer 40k 10th edition has been announced last month at Adepticon.
And that is sooner then me completing the army I began painting when 9th edition was announced...
So people wonder why I don`t want to go along the GW rat-race of rulesets anymore, who are changing faster then I am putting on fresh socks.
But never the less, I am working on, and nearly finishing, the last battlesuit of the first 1000 points for my Tau Gundam force, it's just this Broadside to finish and then his two accompanying drones.
Talking the Chaos Dwarf force, work has been progressing on that level, as I have been completely assembling the Citadel Guard, but double trays will be needed to line those guys up with their long barrels.
as well as started painting on the levy archers, a unit I want to finish by the end of the month.
So that is some very strong progress, and hopefully I can keep this rate up in order to get the army ready for the 29th of october.
The train races back across the globe in this third series of the Netflix adaptation.
Now, with season 2 having been far less intresting then the first one, we stepped into the third one cautiously as such... and Noshi dropped out after episode 2, myself having put it on hold for over a year before starting to watch it again.
After stealing the engine in the season 2 finale, Layton and his team are gathering more evidence that the world is heating again.
But this is of course not something befitting the powerhungry Wilford, who still gives chase with Big Alice now pushing Snowpiercer. He has reinstalled a caste system, but is faced with a secret resistance trying to sabotage his every move. In the meantime, Layton and his team find an actual survivor on the surface!
Wilford in the meantime is building an EMP weapon to put Layton out of commission, causing Ruth to give herself up. This allows the resistance to destroy the weapon before it can be put in action. Luring Big Alice into a railyard, Snowpiercer having lost four cars due to attacks by Wilford, several of the revolutionaries are tortured by Kevin. They manage to cut of Big Alice's escape route, forcing them to surrender and return control of the whole train to Layton and his crew. After a vote, the train starts the perilous journey to the Horn of Africa where Asha survived, but on the way come across cars disconnected from Big Alice. Inside are the victims of Wilford's culling. The crew leaders are struggling though with their inner feelings.
While Zarah gives birth to her's and Layton's babygirl, the first baby ever born on the train, Layton becomes the target of terrorist attacks. These have been orchestrated by Pike, who thinks Ruth, the woman he loves, would be a better leader. This leads to a bitter confrontation, fueled by festering wounds of the past, and finally Layton overcoming Pike in a knife fight. But he collapses due to a concussion he has suffered.
During his comatose state, he dreams he is part of a resistance led by Wilford on a dystopian Snowpiercer. In the real world, his friends are trying to get through to him with the help of Miss Audrey. Wilford in the meantime has become convinced that New Eden does exist after his assault. He reveals to Alex he picked up a signal when Snowpiercer was half a continent away, originating from France. He believes it comes from Melanie, and he wants the train to change course.
They discover an alternate track of a maintenance vehicle leading back to the hangar Melanie was left, but it's a vehicle without life support so she may still have perished. Never the less, they try to catch up to the vehicle. But as they travel after it, they have to pass a cloud of toxic volcanic ash. the ash gets inside due to a broken scrubber, and Asha sacrifices herself to close it, her dying words renewing Layton's sense of purpose.
They manage to catch up to the service vehicle Melanie is riding in, taking her back on board. But soon she learns the data for New Eden is wrong, and announces this to the train, causing a severe conflict between those loyal to her, and those to layton. She seeks the aid of Wilford, and even though he agrees to step down, he soon begins his manipulating games again. But it is all a set up by her and Layton, and Wilford is put in her service vehicle and left behind.
The passengers get a choice: remain on Snowpiercer as it continues his circumventing of the globe as a train of science and no social standings under Melanie, or board Big Alice with Layton to try and make the dangerous pass to New Eden. As the train splits, Big Alice nearly derails in the valley where it is supposed to be warmer, only to actually find water and a warmed up micro-climate!
Three months later, Melanie on board Snowpiercer witnesses an explosion in their direction...
So, season three really redeemed itself after the second season, and now let's bring on the fourth! Though I must admit, I hope that will be the last one, as the train really has been running it's course and there isn`t much to tell anymore I guess.
So let's hope it goes to the station with a strong next season!
The titular suit from the anime series of the same name, this bulky successor to the elegant Zeta Gundam is the next gachapon to roll off the painting table.
Now to be honest, I wasn`t that really a fan of the suit or the "good guys" in the series, but it did have some good storyline wrap ups.
The model itself is another soft plastic by Bandai, and I didn`t get the barrel stretched though even with the hot / cold method. Luckily, it is not THAT noticeable when the model is on a table between scenery and all so I`m good with it.
Following the usual colourscheme of a titular series Gundam, this one had a lot more details though, with all the small exhausts on it's legs in different colours, so it took some finebrushing this time round.
But he turned out pretty okay for gaming, now to get all those ZZ bad guy suits painted in the coming weeks.
The 7 episode series of shorts where BluRay exclusives, putting the characters in all kinds of funny situations.
And somehow, "funny" and "Revy" doesn't clique in my mind, so I dug in and checked this out.
Rock back in high school with Balalayka as the teacher? Gunwielding, magical girl Revy, YES PLEASE! But needless to say you get the idea of what sort of short fun episodes these are.
Don't expact any in debt stories of this little series, but some really fun gags like many shows have on their BluRay releases, except of course the characters themselves makes it all the more over the top and funny as a result.
So spend that bit of time to go through these if you like Black Lagoon, and have some smiles!
I have been behaving (sort of) on the other fronts, mainly being focussed on the wargame hobby the past month as the paint desk columns have been showing.
But never the less, some good, fun stuff arrived, so check it out:
And as always, here are the links:
Lunamaria Hawke: a trade figure I found over at Mandarake.
Pokemon Larvitar glass: this is actually a now empty glass of mustard you can buy in supermarkets.
So that was, well, very short. Never the less, check back next month, as the pile will be growing much larger then!
Hear ya, hear ya my followers, for I am back once again from a nice holiday trip!
Mommy and daddy suprised me by taking me a bungalow resort of Landal, namely Lommerbergen nearby Roermond in The Netherlands!
And not only that, they had a special vacation house with a room completely made for little tornado's like myself. Though I better not hear that out loud! I checked the room thoroughly of course, making sure my bed was in order and all!
I of course inspected the rest of the bungalow as well, making sure I had a good spot for watching my regular television shows and all.
On the first day, we went to the huge Park Plaza, where they even have an indoor slide in the cafe. Here I tried to see if you could also get up the way you came down, because short cuts are always less tiring.
After that, we went for a swim. Even though there was a bit of a waiting line, I entertained the masses by doing my cute wiggle dance! And they where feeding some big goldfishies as we went there, those sure are impressive!
Swimming sure is tiring, and a good nap in my big bed was required after that.
In the afternoon, it was time to go to the farm. Here they had all sorts of animals, like this cute pig, or that majectic peacock who showed off his huge tail specially for me.
Okay, though some of those beasts did lack public manners I say!
We then visited the big dragon themed playground, located on an island in the park!
During the evening, we went to see a local superstar, DJ Rogier Avonturier, and boy, was he funny. Mommy said I was a good boy, as first we went for a pizza (and panne for me) and I played quietly with my animals and did some colouring.
On the second day, we went for walk to the nearby stables, though that one flower sure must feel lonely in the whole field if you ask me.
At the stables, I met Annabelle, a cute little pony that was going to teach me how I should ride like a true Rohirrim!
So together with mommy and daddy I rode along the grasslands, and it sure was a relaxing and fun experience.
In the afternoon, we went for another swim first, before trying out some more of the playgrounds all around the park.
For the evening, we went for french fries, I love those! Just a drink then left for mommy and daddy, where I found a cozy position in my stroller, as daddy tried another one of his7 discoveries.
And so the holiday ended, as I took my seat in our iron horse and returned back home. Thanks mommy and daddy, I really enjoyed it and as I understand, we are going back in august to a park like this, I can`t wait!
A parcel arrived that I was eagerly awaiting this week, from spanish resin caster Norba Miniatures.
Because it containes the first big unit for my budding Infernal Dwarves army!
Not only does it contain a block of 20 Citadel Guard with command, it also has the Prophet in it that will be hurling Pyromancy boombooms at the opponent, Megumin style.
Further included are the bases needed to finally start assembling and preparing all those Clan Wars goblins I have at my disposal, to start forming up the Levies units for the force, a big block of combat troops and a decent unit of archers.
So that means a weekend of glueing before the serious paint work on the force begins, and hopefully smooth progress will be made on these three units in the coming 2.5 months as such. The goal being to have the first three mentioned units ready for battle before the end of june, before starting on the others.
But amongst all that curly bearded violence, I also grabbed me (finally, like a year overdue) some boxes for my PC.
So now my game vids on YouTube are back with sound since a LONG time.
And from Celio, I picked up this Spy X Family hoodie as well as the t-shirt, because one needs to be ELEGANTO!
Well, that's it for this week, see you for the next haul report soon!
