In today's build report we have a Castle set which I really love.
Released 16 years ago and counting 95 parts, this build compromises of two small towers, but they actually "tell a tale" for my taste as part of the Kingdoms I subtheme.
The set comes with two minifigures, namely a man-at-arms and a rather rough looking soldier.
Now, this is the era Lego used a lot of those 8x8 bricks as bases, the Harry Potter range for example comes to mind, and a green one of these serves as the base for the first building.
This is a sort of prison cell block, and we raise the backwall fist, including barred windows.
A heavy celldoor is then placed at the front.
The top of the building is then added, and we can have the man-at-arms stand guard there, before moving to the second building.
Also starting on a green 8x8, this one has a higher groundfloor.
The tower we are now putting together holds a mystical sword in a holder, and the building is actually build around this.
I love those lionhead elements...
As the pillars are raised, we start closing off the roof.
A small tower is then placed on top to complete this little building as well.
The tower comes with a trapdoor, that makes short work of thiefs trying to steal the sword.
And the full set stands completed:
I really, really like this set. For something so small, it has some cool play features, and tells a story. Can the heroic man-at-arms capture and lock-up the ruffian? Can he steal the sword? Great fun!
