So we struggled through to the quarter finals, ending 7th in the regular season with the first 8 advancing.
And that meant I needed to face the team that ended second, the Lizardmen of the Ravenous Raptors, whom where also the first team I faced in the League.
And while they look pretty orcish, it also means a heap of S4 with Block and a Kroxigor, so basically I don't have that much hope at all to progress. But that won't hold me back of trying to destroy his team and make him pay for facing me! Though in case of an incredible stunt, I would end up facing either the Nurgle team or the Amazon team...
We lined up, receiving in the first half, and hopefully managed to hold the line before picking up the ball as a result.
And immediately went to work, knocking out a Saurus warrior with a well placed opening block by Hot Milky Nipples.
Numbers managed to collect the ball, looking to a good spot to get the ball to.
The lines clashed, as another Saurus warrior was KO'd in the central scrimmage.
And after weeks of screwing up, it seemed the Minotaur finally realised why he was there on the pitch.
Cochones Grande went deep, ready to get the ball to him, but he tripped over on his going-for-it even with the Sprint re-roll.
In the center, it kept all being cluttered up though, and slowly we kept knocking over the Lizardmen team as our armour rolls where on fire today.
And while his injury box really kept filling up, even forcing him to use his Apothecary, a lonely Skink managed to get the ball and slip through.
Unable to stop the little bugger he managed to get right to the end zone...
... and score the 1-0 for the Lizardmen as a result.
The teams lined up again, and with him 4 players down we had the numerical advantage to go look for the equalizer.
The Raging Trainwreck broke through the lines into the outfield.
But his block with assists, which just needed a push for a relative safe run to the endline, of course went wrong with double skulls.
The ball back in the open, the Lizardmen could secure it now, and finish the first half in the lead. A crucial failed block, because should the block had worked out, I would be able to go defensive on his stricken team and just dismantle it piece by piece. Now however I needed to still push forward and take risks...
So as we kicked off, we had to look at getting to the ball and try to equalize as soon as possible.
Immediatly a big fight broke out on the middle of the field, as Bull Centaur and Saurus Warrior alike smashed into each other.
His line kept being pulled into two halves, as the Dawi'Zharr drove a wedge through his center.
The skink in possession of the ball switched flanks, trying to get through.
Guarded by a Saurus Warrior, the diminutive blighter sneaked away behind my line, as we failed to bowl it over.
But Cochones Grande managed to get to him with his Strip Ball. He pushed the skink, the ball scattering onto the Bull Centaur who failed to catch it... and then back onto the skink who did grab the ball. Nuffle didn't smile on me there at all.
And so the Skink dodged away easily, and in a cold counter, scored the 2-0 and eliminated me virtually from the League with only 4 turns to go on my part, and I need minimum 2 to score.
With all hope lost, and he deploying defencively deep of course, all I could do was leave a mark and smack some more down hopefully.
We went in all blocking left and right, even in my disfavour, just to do this, not caring about the ball anymore really.
Numbers passed it to Cochones Grande, but he once more failed to catch it. The Bull Centaur was just darn unlucky today with his Sprint trip, scattering Strip Ball and now this failure with a field open for the honour saving goal...
And thus ended the game, a 2-0 defeat, a third of the Lizardmen team missing their semi-finals, and a bit of a sour taste in my mouth as we could have pulled this off where it not for that single failed double skull block...
And so the League ended for the Vongalazthag Violators, as I rolled some final skills and bought two more Hobgoblin Linemen just to bump the Team Value for that single honor at the end. We didn't really lose it in this game, but somewhere in the middle of the League, but that is something to look back at the complete end of the League when all honours are counted.
But we will be back next season, with experience and learned lessons!
