White Dwarf 489

Time to have another look at an issue of the Games Workshop in home magazine, White Dwarf.

At the beginning of the year, at the Aalst Underworlds tournament, I obtained a nice stack of older magazines for nought, and been flicking through them on and off.

Now, let's have a look through it after reading them, and have some opinions.  I do say, I am not into the whole 40k universe thing for years, so those won't be getting to much attention on my part for the reading, but the things that caught my intrest I read of course.

With a lumbering Son of Behemath on the cover, the maine title promises us a battle report and siege rules, nice!

After a community section and a silly article on how to pronounce 40k names, we dive as such headfirst into the Age of Sigmar setting.

Flashpoint Rondhol is the setting, as the Great Stomp reaches the walls of Everquake City.  This brings along a set of battleplans including underground fighting using Warcry rules in the battlereport.  Next we get a guide on building fortress walls, and a second battlereport, this time the actual besiegment of the walls, a 6 player multi-player game.
More Warcry is featured next, with an article and rules for the Soulblight Gravelords.

We then turn to the 40k setting, with the Tale of Four Warlords, before going back to the Herald of Misery series, and rules for Corrupted Bulkheads, whom are included on the issues cardboard inserts.  More material on boarding actions is then spread over a variety of articles, before having a look at the Dark Angels.  Kill Team has a large lore section this issue, together with a scenario based on it.

We then get some Horus Heresy material on the Vindicator line breaker tanks, together with three scenario's for it, as well as some more Black Library material on the White Dwarf.

So yes, this was a fun issue with the fantasy material in it, and those underground battling rules for Warcry seem great fun.
