Riverdance the Animation Adventure

A while ago, Noshi, me and Thoring plummeted into the couch to watch some movies on Netflix, and this one was on the menu.

Based on the dance spectacle of the 90's by the same name, and with the same composer who even made two new numbers for this movie, it's time for a trip into Irish folklore and music.

An irish boy, Keegan, loses his granddad who is the lighthouse keeper of their village, and who was also an excellent dancer.  The village itself though is about to celebrate the annual river festival on Saint Patrick's day, but Keegan doesn't really feel like it.

One day a spanish girl, Moya, takes him along to a world beyond their world, where the Megaloceros Giganteus, beasts from myth and suspected to be extinct, still roam.  As legend says, if the leader loses his antlers, the river will dry up, and the evil Huntsman is out to get those antlers.

Unfortunatly, the leader of the herd, Patrick, falls to the Huntsman (you know it's an irish film if the mythical creature is called Patrick), but thanks to Moya, Keegan and the rest of the herd they manage to overcome him none the less and restore the river, while learning to appreciate life through the Riverdance.

One of those amusing animated movies, with some humour, nice music and generally pleasant on the eye drawing style.  Is it the world's best ever?  Naaah, but it is fun to watch with kids.
