Terraformars volume 14 - Yu Sasuga and Ken-Ichi Tachibana

Aaaah, time for another volume of this fantastic series, going into the last third of the series released.

And the situation on Mars is becoming ever more complicated, as the few survivors struggle, while politics go into full gear back on Earth.

Because the worst possible has happened, the Terraformars have reached Earth by launching themselves in the old vessel of the first expedition, and seemingly have been hiding for 16 years.  But now they emerged, and the military quickly finds out they are no match for the beasts.  What's more, in those years they learned to adapt to our world, using computers, cell phones and drive cars.

A few warriors are gathered to face them, but they all need the fighters on Mars to return as soon as possible to combat the threat.  Those warriors are still fighting both the Terraformars as well as the crew of the chinese recovery vessel though.  When Michelle, slightly recovered from her injuries, tosses Akari out of the vessel in order to go along as a captured specimen, an escape vehicle smashes into the ship.

On it, none other then Russian leader Asimov dismounts, unleashing hell aboard the ship as the great Northern war god only can.  Together with Michelle, he engages the crew of the vessel.  The fact one of the officers can make microscopic copies of himself to attack his inner organs is pretty creepy though.  But Asimov overcomes the general, wrecking the vessel to allow Michele to escape.  Knowing his daughter and grandchild are safe from a short communication from Earth, he leaves them in the hands of his subordinate Ivan when he gets back to Earth.

But he escapes together with Michele, saved by Eva and Akari from plummeting to a certain death.  While the others near the sea though, they are stopped by the Terraformars.  But as the crippled vessel nears the surface, the divisional leaders finally work together to a common goal: to survive!

Another great instalment, and now let's see if we can get the next volumes swiftly...
