His Dark Materials season 3

Time for the third season of Lyra's adventures and her demon Pan, as together with Will she must stop the worlds from ending.

I loved the series so far, was a fan of the Golden Compass movie, and read the first books of the series enjoying them, so needless to say, I looked forward to this.

Lyra is being held captive by her mother, Mrs Coulter, and a deaf girl that cares of the grounds and house, Ama.  Being hunted by visions of her dead friend Roger, as Will encounters two angels rebelling against Metatron.  Lord Asriel is recruiting more forces into his "Republic of Heaven", a rebel army he is raising to take on The Authority.

Cardinal MacPhail learns where Mrs Coulter is hiding Lyra, and sends troops there as Lyra is seen as the new "Eve" in their religious texts.  Asriel learns the plans of The Authority from interrogating a captured angel, as Dr Malone arrives in the world and encounters two young girls that tell her what is going on.  Will, with the help of Ama, frees Lyra though his knife breaks as mrs Coulter makes him remind his mother.

Lyra has decided to travel to the land of the Dead to free Roger's spirit, while Will wants to bring the knife to Asriel.  Iorek manages to repair his knife, and he agrees in the end to join her on her planned quest, ignoring the warnings of Pan.  In the Land of the Dead, they manage to enter the afterlife, even though they must leave Pan behind, as well as Will's so far unseen demon.  Mrs Coulter returns to the Magistarium, and wants to manipulate MacPhail in believing Lyra is no threat.  But the plan backfires and he swears he will sever Mrs Coulter from her demon, and use a directional bomb centered on Lyra's location.

Dr Malone meets strange quadlegged beasts, and learns their language as she stays with them, learning dust is slowly being sucked out of the worlds by Metatron.  Meeting Roger and Lee Scoresby in the land of the Dead, Lyra and Will learn that the Magistarium lied and no-one enters heaven, instead being stuck in purgatory.  In the meantime, mrs Coulter escapes, though MacPhail is killed by Metatron's intervention as he sets the bomb to go off.  Lyra and Will survive the blast due to their location, but it created a chasm across a multitude of worlds.  Will reunites with his father, before setting the dead free by opening a window with his knife out of the land of the Dead and allowing their dust to become one with the universe again.

Metatron starts the attack on the rebel camp, but through various means Asriel and Mrs Coulter can face off against him.  Using a combination of direct action and subterfuge, their strong character traits, and together with the help of their demons throw themselves into the abyss with him, killing them all.  Will and Lyra go to the world where Dr Malone is, to retrieve and make up with their demons, and as they realise they are in love the miracle prophetised happens, the dust returning to the world, and all the windows must be closed to prevent it escaping again.

Lyra and Will realise this means farewell, as neither could survive long in an alternate world, but every year they go sit on the same bench at the same time, "feeling" each others presences as time goes onwards...

This was a good series, and the ending made it a tearjerker with the bench scenes.  If you like this sort of fantasy series, definitly go check it out!
