Whenever our regular fries place is closed for holidays, I have to go two streets further to La Patata, located on the Schotensteenweg in Deurne.
Ran by a friendly chinese family, they do sport a bit of a smaller selection in snacks then most other places, but that is not necessarily a bad thing of course.
So beginning of november (hello, backlog) on a rainy evening, I made the journey there for the family dinner... La Patata doesn't feature an eat-in area, being only take out though, for that might be less intresting for those passing by and wanting to sit down for a quick snack.
Our order
First of all of course, fries. A large one with spices, and then the necessary added snacks in the form of a curryworst for Thorin, a berepoot and a spicy viandel for me and Noshi taking a bamiblock and a mexicano.
The total order came to 20.30 euro as such. Now, the fries where well baked, but the snacks are just that little bit harder baked then at most places. For some snacks, like the viandel and the mexicano, that is actually a good thing, but I like my berepoot "pinkish" in the middle. Guess that is mostly something of personal taste though. The fries where crispy and nicely dry, and nothing was covered in grease as sometimes happens at other places, as you could have already read in my previous reports.
Conclusion
Personally, it is always that one little step behind my regular place, but it isn't a bad frituur at all. As such I will rate it with a 6.5 out of 10, the main gripes are my personal taste of not baked so hard berepoot, and the fact one can't have a sit down for a quick bite.
But, as I said, if you like it all a bit harder baked, it would probably notch up an extra point for your personal tastes.
