So those that follow some anime channels on YouTube might have heard about Garnt Maneetapho, better known as Gigguk.
He created this story, and in 2025, it was produced as an anime short film.
And I must say, first of all it is beautifully made, and second of all it actually isn't bad at all. Seems he studied well all about anime when making his content, compared to all those come-and-gone's who just rode the hype wave during Corvid times.
The story is set in the near future, where two worlds, modern day Japan and the fictional fantasy world of Euthania are connected by a warp gate. Two teenagers from these worlds, respectively Daichi and Rinrada, travel to each others worlds to broaden their horizons and learn what life is about. Daichi witnesses the fight against dangerous monsters, while Rinrada learns things like work.
It gives a good feel of both how life of expats and the choice they will need to make one day, namely return home or stay abroad, while also learning the things of adult life coming into bloom. During the story we learn they didn't actually pass together through the portal, but that Daichi went years earlier and chose to take care in Euthania for the orphan Rinrada, becoming her foster dad.
A truly nice short film, and well worth the 20 minutes it takes to watch, giving a general good feeling when you watch it.
