A Netflix original documentary, it follows the inception, and fall, of the Fyre festival.
What was supposed to be the biggest exclusive party ever, resolved into laws that put "influencers" on a tight leash in the States.
The documentary follows the walk of Billy McFarland, a scammer and con artist who wanted to create the most exclusive beach party ever, and had put influencers, aka vloggers and bloggers, before his public relations machine to sell tickets.
But the festival failed to materialize, and it was soon revealed it was all one big scam. Now, the irony of the documentary is that I had sympathy for Billy up to a certain point. It is presented as that he was just an overambitious entrepreneur who had taken on more then he could handle... but then in the last half hour this all melts as snow in the sun, as he creates new scams to pay the debts of his previous ones...
An intresting documentary for sure, and worth checking out on Netflix.
