It is ADORABLE!
Okay, let's get a bit over the cuteness of "Baby Yoda" for a moment and take a look at the newest Star Wars series streamed by Disney+.
For me, Star Wars was at an all time low the past years. While a Trekkie by heart, I can aprreciate and enjoy every science fiction or fantasy out there, but my love for the epic series dwindled hard the past years. The new trilogy is just, well, bad, and the only thing in recent years I enjoyed was Rogue One.
But now there is a tale of a little green guy and his Mandalorian "foster parent", as they travel the galaxy to stay out of the hands of the remainders of the Empire. The series is set 5 years after Return of the Jedi, and while defeated, the influences of the Empire are still around. Local backwater planets being governed by ex imperial officers and the likes, as the Rebels haven`t weeded out all just yet.
And in this setting, "Mado", a Mandalorian mercenary, is hired to acquire "the asset" of "The Child", a 50 year old toddler of the same species of Yoda. While he initially delivers, something connects insides him and he saves the little guy from various possible experiments and dissection, becoming a fugitive in doing so.
But he knows he can`t find peace for the little one unless he defeats his initial employer, gathering his allies around him to take him down... and discovering it might all run far deeper then he believed.
A really great series with a strong Western feel to it, it are 8 episodes of action, and the forming of the connection between Baby Yoda and Mando (which are, basically an unofficial and an official nickname that have been stuck on the two protagonists, and are going to last quit a while I think). It has adventure, emotion (the end of IG..., be prepared for dramatic heroics) and a great deal of comical relief as a toddler is exploring space!
This is the way!
