Quest of the Ringbearer

Ever since it's announcement, this volume has stirred up a great expectation amongst the MESBG community.

Because now you can trace the steps of Frodo in these 28 scenarios that tell the tale of the hazardous journey!  Luckily, we have a Sam to walk with us!

The book follows the usual lay out of pictures from both the miniature range as well as the trilogy, before it takes us into the daring adventures of Frodo and Samwise.

The scenarios start as far back as the four hobbits meeting in the cropfields of Farmer Maggot, all the way to moment Frodo casts the One Ring into the Fires of Mount Doom.

Now, don`t expect huge battles in this volume, as the Fellowship travelled around these events, and they are covered as such in other expansion books.  But do expect a lot of fun little scenario's with a huge against the odds feel to them, or fun mini games like the Pass of Caradhras.

Now, a word of note.  The storyline has a lot of adapted scenarios from earlier editions of the game, and this also means a lot of the needed figures are no longer available, or insanely expensive on the second hand market.  If you have been collecting the range from the early days like me, you will be fine, but if you are new to the game... it can quickly mount up to a very expensive shopping list.

After the scenarios, there is a whole section on the modified army lists, as well as some Legendary Legions, not only the Fellowship of course, but also the long awaited Black Riders, allowing you to field the Nine as seen in the Fellowship of the Ring.

And then we come to another gem of the book: rules to field your very own fantasy fellowship, and how to proceed in building this up, replacing it's members with other heroes of roughly the same points and quality levels.

Rounding out all this goodness is a masterclass on the Forge World Weathertop set, and you have one lovely book to get going on your own personal journey!
