Recently, Noshi and me sat down for this saturday night television movie, a Ronald Emmerich production.
And believe me, this movie has about every action movie cliche there is in it, yet it isn't horrible.
This mainly has to do due to the strong performances of Channing Tatum as agent John Cale, and Jamie Foxx as president Sawyer.
During a trip to the White House with his estranging daughter, Cale finds himself in the middle of a terrorist attack on the White House itself. With the president in attendance, he tries to save the world from a nuclear war as the whole of Norad is compromised as well.
This results in the just sworn in vice-president being shot out of the sky in Air Force One, as the outside world belives president Sawyer fallen in the attack, and the spokesmen and third in line as a result becoming the third president of the United States in a day.
However, Cale and president Sawyer slowly uncover the plot to bring the United States into a nuclear war with the Middle-east, coordinated by the president's former chief of security and the just sworn in spokesman...
It is as I said not a bad moving, perfect for saturday evening late couch watching. Brain to zero and just let it all flow over you, as explosions tear up your tv screen. And it isn't to obvious just how it all is put together and why, so that makes it a good fun heap as well.
And then there is that guy with his grenade belt around his neck...
