I Am Mother

The latest movie me an Noshi watched, is this 2019 made, Netflix original science fiction thriller.

Working with a very limited cast, this australian movie puts the mind to work... and you might miss clues if you blink, making the ending more suprising.

Following the extinction of humanity, an automated bunker activates and builds a robot called Mother.  This machine is responsible for raising an embryo into a full fledged person, called Daughter, and teaching her the values of life.

With the outside world shut off due to a contagion, one day a woman turns up and daughter leds her in.  Badly wounded, she tells Daughter there is no contamination, and that robots attacked and nearly wiped out mankind.  This makes Daughter more and more curious about the world, and while she bonds with the woman, she decides to question and escape from Mother.

After she learns that Mother terminated a former child as it didn`t reach the expectations set upon her, Daughter escapes and learns that the woman is a sole survivor.  She returns to Mother realizing she is meant to become the "Eve" of a new mankind, a better and more civilized sort, and that Mother is the AI responsible for the extermination of humans.

Deciding to accept her faith, she terminates the Mother robot, and sets out to build a new humanity, with her baby brother as her first ward...

A very intriguing movie, and to be honest, I didn`t realise the termination event either as I watched it, only realising the time gap far after the credits... so a great flick indeed!
