The first of the Gundam models for my Cav Open Market list has been rolled off the painting desk today.
I went for the "bottlecap" scale of the figures, which are around the 1/400 scale, so technically a little smaller then 6mm (at 1/300 up and about) but perfectly in size for FWC gaming, as every model stands about as big as a 32mm Heroic figure from Age of Sigmar and the likes.
The models come in soft plastic, attached to a plastic bottle cap, so step 1 war removing the cap of course, and then the model was undercoated over it's pre-painted layer. My beloved 'two layer cell shading' style works perfectly for these sorts of models (heck, it's due to them I started painting like that years ago) and the first walker for the walker filled army list was ready.
Ruleswise, being not a Gundam but a "not so mass-produced' Mobile Suit, it's going to use the rules for the "Assassin" class, which is in theme with it being a close combat suit, with a secondary missile launcher system (mounted in the shield), at 260 points. A smaller, non-forcefield suit, but that means also it's a good back up suit for when the real hitters get included in the force.
Though I will be painting up a bit of infantry and AFV's for the force, it will be made up mostly of Gundams in the end...
