The second season of the historically inspired series about a young Leonardo Da Vinci, huge events take shape.
We take up where we left off in this rather ingenious series, and while Leonardo looks for the Book of Leaves, Italy shakes.
While searching for the Book of Leaves, Leonardo and his companions arrive in South America where they are taken prisoner by the natives. Here he has to forge an unlikely alliance in order not only to survive, but also gain entrance to the Vault of Heaven where he learns more about the book and the fate of his mother.
In the meantime, while it is revealed that pope Sixtus is an imposter, Lorenzo has to fight his way through a heavy ordeal set up by the King of Naples. While he his held there, Florence itself is sacked, even with the help of Carlo de Medici, a bastard son of Cosimo. It is only when Leonardo returns that the occupation is broken, and he travels to Napels.
But then the Ottoman's arrive...
What I like about it
* It remains a highly enjoyable series, set against the backdrop of the shattered Italy full of city states.
What I didn`t like about it
* Nearing the end of the second season, the story seems to be forced in a higher setting to get it rounded out by the end of the 10th episode...
But never the less, I`m looking forward to watching the third (and final) season in the near future...
