The latest anime series Noshi and me watched, No Game No Life was pretty relatable...
Based on a light novel, this series follows the adventures of the brother / sister gamer combination The Blank, and ran for a single season in 2014.
The series follows Sora and his younger stepsister Shiro, two hikikomori
who make up the identity of Blank, an undefeated group of gamers. One
day, they are challenged by the god of games to chess and are
victorious. As a result, the god summons them to Disboard, a reality
which revolves around games.
Intent on maintaining their reputation as the undefeated gamers, Sora
and Shiro plan to conquer the sixteen ruling species and to usurp the
god of games.
Unfortunatly, the series hasn`t been expanded for further seasons, which means that if you want to know how it ends, you have to turn to the novels and manga. While it's rather popular amongst fans in the western world, apparently it wasn`t a success in Japan, causing it's cancellation, though a "pre-event" movie is about to come out this year, so there is still hope it gets kicked off again.
We also watched the six 2.5 minute specials of the series, but those short gag clips where rather, errrm, how to put it nicely, "fan serviced" in story and art... and definitly not necessary to follow the story.
Just remember, the game is won before it begins!
