Saint Seiya the movie... it happened with the necessary delays, but last winter the CGI movie was released on the audience.
It is awesome!
It is also... wrong...
The problem is of course that we are talking here about a 1hr 30 movie containing the material from the full Golden saints arc of the original series... so that`s almost 100 episodes of 20 minutes crammed into one film.
To much material, to few minutes to fill...
This makes it all feel a bit rushed through the story at times, and even though the initial `short cuts` through the Houses are acceptable, like no time lost in the empty houses or Mu repairing cloths, it all comes down to a gigantic battle in the Sagittarius house.
And it is rather silly what happens with Aphrodite.
Now, the movie takes a lot of material from Omega as well, as the Pandora boxes and the Clothstones from both series are actually fused into one in a pretty nifty way.
The same goes for the cloths themselves, having a more high tech look like the latter Omega ones with shiny bits, but that isn`t to say this is actually a bad thing at all. They look the part, and are beautifully done.
But be in for a disappointment in this film if you want to see Ikki dish out his epic bad-ass ness. Of course, it centers around Seiya, and at least Shiryu and Hyoga get some time, but the siblings are just there for, well, they where in the story. Shun actually never gets into a real fight...
Now, all in all, this isn`t a bad movie, but Harlock was just, well, far better honestly. Look at this as a special sort of summary of the original series, or a short (albeit incorrect) way to introduce the Omega generation to the generation of us old schoolers...
Oh, and then there is of course the whole Shura question...
Finished!
