Legends of Tomorrow

The third DC based show the CW has created, we follow Rip Hunter and his team in an effort to stop Vandal Savage from conquering the world and murder Rip`s wife and son.

So now we get this 16 episode first season of time travelling adventures, in a spaceship from the future, with a Doctor Who illumini in the main role.

Plot

White Canary, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, The Atom and Firestorm are approached by a traveller from the future to help in his quest stopping Vandal Savage destroying the world.  A rogue time agent, he works against the Time Masters and jumps through time in his ship The Waverider.
Their goal is to stop Savage in the past to preserve the future, but this doesn`t work and they end up at the moment Savage would take power.  It turns out though everything is one big elaborate plot to defend the Earth in fact from an invasion by an alien race...

Opinion

So you have a Doctor Who style series, with Arthur Darvill, who played Rory during the 11th Doctor`s run, in a glorious lead.  The whole team is portrayed strongly, but for me Darvill, together with the two Prison Break stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller stand out.
Bit shame though the latter had to die as he moves on to the new Prison Break series and won`t have time for a lead in the second series. But of course, in the superheroes universe the dead have the tendency to not stay that way.

It is a very enjoyable show, with some fantastic references in it (the best must be Miller saying when the team needed to be saved from a Russian Gulag "hey, this isn`t the first prison break I did"), decent humour, and a nice balanced amount of drama and character development.
I`m definitly looking forward for the second season, where the team will be reformed with a lot of new names, and for some reason I keep being convinced we will see Booster Gold turn up in it...
