Classic Lego Build: 6264 Forbidden Cove

Hailing from the second line of Pirate sets LEGO released, the islanders came into play in 1994 with this smallest of their three island camps.

Forbidden Cove is from the time you got baseplates with your sets, and features a mysterious cave that has a secret revolving skull head, something these days echoed in the Scooby Doo range with the lighttower.

Which, face it, is a reworking in a franchise of this set...

The set came with 4 figures, being 2 islanders and 2 fortune seeking pirates.

The first things we put together are some small hotch potch pieces, like the palmtree, the crocodile, the canoe and the pirate rowing boat.

The real build is based on a blue baseplate, and we start by laying down the elements that will show us where everything is going to be from the build.

Using BURPs and arches, the main cove as such is being build up, as this is the central part of the build.

Love the printed zebra pattern round tile, that serves a the top of an islander drum.

The treaure chest is build on the islander basefloor, which sits on top of the cavern.

The next part of the build is the revolving skull like cavern entrance, using some leaves as decoration to give it the looks reminding of the islander minifigures.

This can swivvle open and allow entrance into the passageway.

The thing remaining now is to build the roof for the islander tower.

And the full set stands completed:

Islanders was a great subrange of the Pirates theme in my opinion, and the minifigures are still very popular among builders.  This was a fun set to put together, and like I said, the "ancestor" of Scooby`s lighthouse set in build and style... but considering this is 21 years it`s predecessor in colours, elements and techniques.
