Classic Lego Build: 6041 Armor Shop

Today`s classic build is indeed that, a true classic, with the Armor Shop from the Castle range 1986.

Together with the Guarded Inn, this is one of the most sought after sets of that era, and the ones you tend to pay proportionally more for then with other classic Castle sets.

This has to do in the main due to 2 elements: the red printed lion knights flag, and the black sword, both unique to this set only.

The set comes with two minifigures, being the merchant of the armour shop, and a Lion Knight.

The shop itself is based on a 6x12 green plate, to which grey bricks outline it`s contours.  On the sides technic bricks are placed, as the whole range back then could be locked together that way to make a big encircling village.

The sides of the shop are then build up, grey conical elements making the sides look like they are made of pillars.

Prefab castle wall sections are then inserted to close the backside up.

The roof is added to the little building, and red slopes make for the roof tiling.

The roof also features battlements, to better integrate it with the castle itself from that era.

There is also a weapon rack included.  Not to difficult a build, it does look better in my opinion then the more recent ways Lego has been tackling these sort of things.

The final steps are adding some flags to the shop and mounting out gallant knight up.

And the full set stands completed:

A true classic of the genre, this isn`t a complicated build, but it just looks fantastic and just breathes the atmosphere of the 80s range in my opinion.  A real top set and must have for a castle collector!
