A seven episode Netflix original, me and this series got of on the wrong foot.
I started watching it with Noshi, but as she isn`t western minded, and the first half hour was rather slow, it was put aside.
Boy was I wrong...
I picked it up again this week, and thundered through it, understanding why various magazines have taken it in their top 10s of best series of 2017. In a male dominated genre, this woman-centric series is pretty refreshing.
The town of La Belle had suffered a huge set back when almost all the men perished in a mining accident. When two years later Roy Good, a gunslinger and adopted son of the outlaw Frank Griffin, comes to town, he is taken in and nurtured to good health again.
However, Frank holds a grudge against him, and threatens to kill everyone that harboured Roy, leading to a cat and mouse game of who meets up with who and a very tear jerking finale episode.
The series is not only beautifully made, the story is taken you along in a nice pace. And Jeff Daniels is sublime in his role as Griffin, a far cry from his Chamberlain portrayal as he is on the other side of the law now...
HIGHLY recommended!!!
