Classic Lego Build: 6265 Sabre Island

In this weeks build report, we get lovely Sabre Island from 1989.

I always liked this set, as it had the lovely tower, and I always been more of a "soldier" fan then the actual pirates.  And it complemented my Carribean Clipper perfectly.

At 80 parts, this set came with three minifigures, namely an officer and two soldiers with shako.

Now, after all those years, some slight damage to the elements was to be expected, and one of the small flag clips broke.  Luckily enough, it can still be attached to it's pole with a single clip.

And that pole is located at the back of the small rowing boat that is part of the set.

The build itself begins on one of the then new small baseplates that came with an island pattern printed on it.

White large wall pieces are erected to form the groundfloor of the tower.

A turntable is installed right behind a low wall, where the cannon will be played.  The second floor is installed in the meantime.

The cannon and the shot for it are then placed near the turntable.

Next, we put together the palmtree, which is placed right next to the tower.

All we have to do now, is add the top floor railing, and the small set stands completed

It`s a gorgeous set from a revolutionary range.  The Pirates line was the first to take away with the "smiley faces only" in sets, and came with great printed torsos, as well as a boatload (pun intended) of new style parts.
