The recent british historical drama, Jamestown, takes us to the colony of the same name in 1619.
It was created by the team behind Downtown Abbey, and while it lacks the action or intensity of series like Black Sails or other high production budgets, it is never the less an enjoyable show, already confirmed for a second season.
The story takes place in 1619, twelve years after the men have founded the colony of Jamestown,
women arrive from England duty bound to marry the men that have paid for
their passage.
Among the women are Alice, Verity, and Jocelyn who
arrive with little idea of what the future holds or the disruption they
are about to bring to the settlement.
The new governor, Sir George
Yeardley, and his wife also arrive and discover that running the
settlement is not without problems with a company secretary trying to
undermine his position.
This leads to a variety of intrigues, as for one Jocelyn not only holds a grave secret she must keep hidden or face the gallows, but she also becomes involved with the towns doctor. Alice from her part starts a relationship with the brother of the man who bought her. This causes him to go out and hunt for silver...
Well, I for one will enjoy the series when it comes back, it`s just a nice and relaxing sit back series.
