At the recent Wonder Con, Cryptozoid (who did the World of Warcraft ccg amongst others) has revealed a Trading Card series based upon Pacific Rim.
Contrary to what many `experts` think, I loved that movie, and some sites as well deem it `underrated`, that film was pure and mindblowing entertainment.
Think of it like the old Steven Segall action flicks, but then with big robots, and I love it still! Now the card set will be 72 cards in the sets `base`, and of course a series of chase cards. Every box will come with `hits`, being an Autograph card (about 1/24 packs) and either a Prop or a Wardrobe chase card.
The set is complimented by three inserts, one for the Jaegers, one for the Kaiju and one for the Pilots, at a rate of around 1/12 packs, meaning a sealed box nets you 1 Autograph, 1 Prop or Wardrobe, 6 Insets and 120 basic cards.
Packs will contain 5 cards each, and a box will contain 24 packs, with a starting price target of 3.50 USD for a pack.
Now, considering sites like cardboardconnection rate it`s price point at Low- to Mid-End Entertainement cards, and it has a rather small `demographic` target audience, this price is probably going to be dropping soon on sites like eBay, so it shouldn`t be to hard to get at least a full set. The Autograph cards, especially from more famous names like Ron perlman (Hannibal Chau) will be rising in value, but I doubt a Diego Klattenhoff (Yancy Beckett, the guy pulled out of Gypsy Danger in the first minutes of the movie) will be a dollar seller, with all due respect...
