So, years after the original, enjoyable, witch movie The Craft, there is now on Netflix a sort of sequel / soft reboot of the movie.
So one saturday afternoon, we put it on and see what it was all about.
The
movie starts with three girls and aspiring witches trying to freeze
time using magic, but they fail as they need a fourth member in their
coven to effectively complete the ritual. Lily moves into town with her
therapist and mother Helen, and befirends the other girls after being
mocked by her classmates for having her period.
When
she telekinetically assaults the biggest bully of them all, Timmy, the
girls see they might have found their fourth member. She takes revenge
on him, casting a spell that makes him all sensitive, and he even
confesses he is actually bisexual. His partner's father, Adam (David
Duchovny does a fun job here), looks caring though, but it soon turns
out he might have perhaps a hidden agenda.
When
Lily uses her magic to have Timmy kiss her, the other girls break her
connection to magic as she broke the rules of the coven. Timmy commits
suicide shortly after, and at the funeral her mother confesses she isn`t
her biological mom, but that she is the child of a patient of hers.
Buth then she shapeshifts into Adam, who wants to take her magical
powers for his own.
The
other girls intervene, and together they overcome Adam, burning him to a
crisp. Lily finally gets to see her real mother, who turns out to be
none other then Nancy Downs from the original movie.
