The Mandalorian and Grogu

Okay, first things first, this isn't a movie, this is literally a prolonged episode.

Well no, actually, it's the fourth season seemingly compressed into a movie...

You see, you can really tell in the movie where an episode would "end", and I counted 7 of such moments.  That means they probably took the script of the fourth season, and compiled it, but for the same amount it could just have been 7 or 8 episodes of between 30 to 45 minutes, the length it often had in the previous three.

Now, the story is that Mando is working for the New Republic, going in to gather Imperial agents and get information from them, based on a deck of cards.  But one very elusive one can only be found with the aid of the Hutt's.  Now, these are of course their criminal selves, and suspected of playing both sides ever since the Twins took over the syndicate from the dead Jabba.  They ask mando to get their cousin Rotta (yeah, the little one from the Clone Wars series), now a big gladiator who is under contract with Commander Coin, Mando's target.

They set him free, but Mando himself is betrayed by the Hutt's and taken captive.  Grogu sets up a rescue mission, and sets him free, healing him back to health before the New Republic arrives to take down the Twins once and for all, as they learned they where actually on the Imperial side.

What you get as such is a movie that combines the usual Mandalorian action, Grogu humour and a cool spacefighter battle at the end, but actually nothing more.  Yes, this would have indeed been better if it had been an actual series in my opinion, now it just felt like a television movie with some unfortunate cuts left or right, and not enough character backstory, as that was probably dropped from the original stories.

Enjoyable?  Yes.  Great Star Wars?  No, it diminishes the credit the series had build up before...
