The mysterious Powercell

Stardate 94091.72, Ruins on Ramtut III, Science Officer Linora reporting

In order to investigate some mysterious readings we picked up from orbit, I beamed down into the ruins here on Ramtut III.
Initial searches revealed no apparent source, and I started to catalogue the hieroglyphics, similar to the ancient Egypt culture on Earth, for further study.
However, as I progressed further into the ruined structure, I came across a most peculiar find.  An ancient powercell, dating back for about 2000 years.  Was this the source of the mythical "light of the Gods" the hieroglyphs tell about?

A small vignette (like with my Tolkien, I love working on those small scenes now and then), I wanted to have an Orion science officer for my motley bunch of Star Trek builds.

Her head was once property of Hera, from the Ghost microfighter set, and I opted for now for "classic" uniforms until I get my custom torso`s printed for future builds.

Inspirational Lego # 76

For those that support our national soccer team, inspiration might have come to them already after last night`s demonstration.

For all the others, her we are again with a selection of 10 pretty cool Lego builds as we try to do every monday :-)

We star the week with a very nice looking Chibi vehicle.  This flying pirate ship looks like a combination of the Black Pearl and the Arcadia, and it does a great job at it.

Sky-fi might be an area of building I`ll probably never dable in, but that doesn`t mean I can`t appreciate the builds, like this fantastic british plane.

This strafighter has a certain anime feel to itself with the pointed wings at the back.

A Star Wars vignette that comically represents the difference between the Light and Dark sides of the Force.

A fantastic representation of White Cap Bay from Pirates of the Carribean

Mega Bloks may hold the license for the HALO series, but that doesn`t stop builders out there at all, as this fantastic Globemaster shows.

I love the way the lava flow is made on this small space setting build.

From the Andromeda`s Gate building game comes this huge all-terrain vehicle.

The fantasy building is not only fantastic looking, but the way the water stream is incorporate and redirected from the roof is really magnificent.

We end this week with an example that cool things can be build with large Bionicle parts, as the dragon shows.

And that`s it again for this week, see you all again next week!

Star Trek The Romulan Wars season 2

I just finsihed watching the second season of this fanseries, and it`s different from the first for sure.

Spanning 3.5 episodes, the final one being half as long and on a total different setting, it`s only about an hour and a quarter long for the whole season.

Plot

Chief Engineer Samuels has been promoted from the Yorktown from season one to become the captain of the Discovery, an "NX refit" vessel and now the most advanced class in the fleet, overseen by Trip Tucker.

After the initial NX vessel escaped a Romulan vessel by the shortest of margins, they are later captured and studied by the Romulans.  To find out the location, they had to overcome a Vulcan unification sympathiser who wanted to steal the Discovery.
The last episode sets the pace for the USSA Atlas, a cargo vessel that has to escape an ambush by the Romulans.

Opinion

A new ship and as good as a whole new crew compared to season 1, it might make one wonder if their have been some issues due to which the whole thing changed?  Or has it been a logical evolution?  In any case, the new ship looks great.

Being a hybrid between an NX and a Constitution, you basically get a secondary hull attached to the underside while the whole NX itself is connected to this by elongating the nacelle pylons and adding a `neck` between main and secondary.

Season wise, the episodes, especially for me the first two, where really good, with a great tale that could come out of the regular series.  I`m not sure what happened to the Atlas project, or if there will be a third season, but this was a nice fanseries.

Build Report: 4000010 Lego House

The second special set I brought back from Billund, the Lego House is based on the building Lego is placing in the heart of the little town to become "the capital of Lego".

This set is special in that it is sold by every merchant in Billund (the baker, the hairdresser, etc etc) for 150 DKK (about 20 euro) a set.  This to compensate for the problems that might arise to local economy by the works.

A 250 piece set, this architecture is full of white elements mostly, and contrary to regular Architecture series also features a special Minifigure.

Opening the box, we get the bags of elements and the booklet which also gives some background and information about the Lego House.

We start the build with black plates, upon which the structure will be put in tradition with the Architecture line.

These plates are bordered with tiles, and light grey jumpers are placed to make the garden.

As the small tress are placed on the nobs, we start working inwards with transparent elements.

The black plates for the front side are then added to the build, giving us the full ground plate of the build.

The printed Lego tile to go on the front.

More grey tiles make up the circumference of the area, and the stairs to enter the house are build on the sides.

The middle section is then filled up, allowing the placement of the next modules to go on top of this.

White tiles are used to make the top of the building nice and smooth.

We then proceed to start laying the next level of the House on the build, and smooting those out as well using white tiles.

The center is set up to house the big white 2x4 brick that, like in the real life building, will go on top to truly represent what it is all about.

Next, we build the corner section for the first floor, and we repeat this four times.

These are then placed on the model, and the openings covered up.

The central hole is then nicely smoothed out.

And with the placement of the iconic brick, the build is completed:

Like any set, you get a few extra pieces as well:

In a way, this set is a bit of a shame.  It`s only available in Billund itself, so you really need to get there to obtain one, or be prepared to pay the top money to get a copy for yourself.  It`s a nice little set, containing a LOT of white elements, and looks okay on any display shelf. So if you happen to get there, or have someone going there, ask them to bring one along.
