Pokemon: MewTwo Returns

The second movie of the Pokemon franchise, this was released way back in 2000.

I remember I watched the first movie, to which this is a direct follow up, with my then GF in the cinema and feld old, but they are enjoyable entertainment never the less.

Plot

Mewtwo, his heart having been softened by the selfless example of the human named Ash Ketchum back in his birthland in the eastern Kanto region. He eventually finds the perfect hideaway: a huge mountain named Mt. Quena, surrounded by steep cliffs that are practically impossible to scale, but in its top is a forest and a freshwater lake that makes for a near-utopia for all the Bug Pokémon living there.

Ash and his friends and Pikachu, on their Pokémon journey as always, are now passing through the area around Mt. Quena, but complications with the weather and the bus service force them to stay at a cabin at the foot of the mountain, where they would meet the Pokémon naturalists Luna Carson and Cullen Calix and the spunky young girl Domino who works for a Pokémon institute.


Mewtwo asks Ash why he's helping him, to which Ash replies that you don't need a reason to help someone in trouble.

Opinion

I recently got a whole stack of series and movie DVD's for next to nothing of Pokemon, having seen only a few of the movies and the first season to be honest, and I`m slowly going through them while sorting bricks.

It`s mindless entertainment, and that is just great for children cartoon, it has a story, a slight moral about friends being important and working together, and I like the animation of the franchise.
