Love Letter boardgame review

After years, me and Noshi sat down a few weeks ago to finally get back into some boardgaming!

And this was the result of buying some small 2-4 player games on Vinted really cheap, as could be seen in one of the recent Haul Reports.

And the first game after years that got played, is Love Letter, a cardgame from the 999 Games stable.  Released in 2012, it was designed by Seiji Kanai.  The average duration of a game is 20 minutes, so that is ideal to start playing again, without searching hours through rulebooks.

The goal of the game is to seduce the princess by collecting 7 "love letter tokens".  In order to obtain them, you need to play cards, and try to have your rival rejected by the abilities mentioned on the characters.  You can try to deduce which cards your rivals hold by playing for example a Priest, which let's you look at their hand, or guess right with a Guard to have one rejected.

Should you go through the whole deck of characters (15 cards as one is put aside every round), the points are counted of the characters you played, but beware if you have the Princess, because when you have to put her down, you lose the round automatically!  You can't seduce yourself, but she has the use of being the highest value, and a Baron for example compares points of the card you and your rival hold, the lowest one being rejected.

A fast and fun little game, which you can approach either by deducting cards, or by playing some combinations, nice for that quick game with 2 players.
