History's Greatest Hoaxes is a 6 part documentary handling just that, the greatest hoaxes pulled in history.
The series looks into how they came about, but most importantly how they could be maintained for a long time.
Looking into the revelations often made decades later, often after the passing away of the hoax creators, and how they took on a life of their own. The series begins with the infamous alien autopsie video, and follows through with Loch Ness, the Hitler Diaries, Under Peat man, Pappilon and Orson Welles War of the World radio play.
It debunks a lot of myths surrounding them (like the millions of histerical people after War of the Worlds for example) and investigates on how they where step by step created and how they where influencing contemporary people.
Ow, and if you ever suspect a hoax... it seems London is the center of creating them...
