Time to enter another one of the contests over at Chaos Dwarfs Online!
And this time, in already the 39th edition of the Artisan Contest, the goal was all about wizards.
The focus of the contest is about the trials, infamy and potential misfortunes that befalls the Chaos Dwarf (or Hobgoblin) magic users on their path to greatness. Now, based a bit on turn to stone / let's build a dreadnought for them principle, I went through some bits and pieces.
I still had that Cygnar light warjack I picked up a while ago on Vinted for the very cheap, and this would become the base of my deamonsmith. The general idea is that he isn't suffering from the Curse of Stone (yet) but that he just blew half his body to smithereens trying to hammer together the next best demonic powered warmachine invention.
So, what better solution then for the unfortunate deamonsmith then to infuse his broken body into the mechanical construct he has been making, including a big forgehammer to keep his infernal work going!
So the parts came generally from three sources: the above mentioned warjack, a spare head from the Blood Bowl sprues of the recently released team with a 3d printed big hat, and a hammer from some I believe Mantic set I still had lying around. The shield is the coin from above mentioned Blood Bowl set, which I don't use anyways.
Some kitbashing and cursing later, and Barchum the Iron-welded was born, whom I deliberatly based on a 50x50 base so I can add him in games of The Old World as a unit filler for the warrior regiments.
How did he fare in the contest though? Well, he didn't end in the top spaces, but he did got the lucky "entrants draw" and so this nice little monster is coming way!
He was great fun to build and paint though, so onwards to the next contest to make these sorts of wacky things you otherwise don't get round to!
