On Tour to the Frituur 19: de Kloosterhoeve in Arcen

 So recently we went on a vacation to Resort Klein Vink in Arcen, the Netherlands.

 

And of course, that gave an opportunity to discover a frituur in the region!

 

This was part of the regional family restaurant, de Kloosterhoeve, which is situated at, but not exclusively for, the Arcen Roompot park Klein Vink, and has a frituur / snackbar for take-out.  Now as we went there on the first day we arrived, like many on the park, on the friday evening, it was very busy indeed.  The interior has seating spots, but these where mostly occupied by park visitors awaiting their orders to be prepared, so we had a seating outside the place on it's big open area.  While this is handy, I imagine the busy insides should it be rainy weather and not 29 degrees when we went.

 

It has a rather limited menu, but it does have all the essentials (and in addition, also sells pizza) at prices comparable to any regular place, so no mark up for being at a vacation park which is a nice thing.

 

My Order

 

We ordered a huge family pack of fries, which was a real mountain in that we might have better taken a size smaller.  Luckily Thorin can put away some good amounts.  Alongside we took a currywirst (Frikandel) for the little guy, a bamischijf and a cheese soufle for Noshi and I took what they called a "spicy meat snack" but we know as a Mexicano, and a Berepoot which comes with satesaus (a peanut based thick creamy sauce) standard here.  Rounding out, some cold sauces and we where set for 29 euro, so as I said not a big mark-up at all.

 

The fries where nicely baked, and of the variety with some of the peel still on it, making them extra tasty.  Nothing bad can be said of the meat snacks either, they know how to put it all in the fryer and don't mess it up. 

 

Conclusion 

 

 A good place, nothing to fancy though I love the satesaus on the berepoot, and not super expensive or the likes, just your regular place.  Only the seatings might be an issue if the weather ir rainy, but as we didn't see a single drop during the whole holiday, I'm not going to take this into account, and rate it the baseline 7 out of 10 as such.  It gets some bonus for the excellent fries, but loses some for the very limited menu of only 8 different snacks...

 

But for a vacation park bordering place, it definitly was worth it...
