White Dwarf 488

Time to have another look at an issue of the Games Workshop in home magazine, White Dwarf.

At the beginning of the year, at the Aalst Underworlds tournament, I obtained a nice stack of older magazines for nought, and been flicking through them on and off.

Now, let's have a look through it after reading them, and have some opinions.  I do say, I am not into the whole 40k universe thing for years, so those won't be getting to much attention on my part for the reading, but the things that caught my intrest I read of course.

The cover brings an Ultramarine psyker to the fore, as this volume will contain the final instalment of the Herald of Misery flashpoint, based around boarding actions.

Going through the community pages, the first article we get is about online narrative campaigns, before diving into the 40k section.  After a first look at how maps are made in the studio, there is an article on the return of Lion El'Jonson as well as Commander Dante.
We then move to the coverstory, with the final part of the Herald of Mysery flashpoint, including unstable structure tiles, whom are also included with the magazine insert pages.  A lot of scenarios are presented, before a battle report around the setting is fought out.
Next, a Blood Angel paint guide is presented, complete with a large gallery of armies.

Moving on to the Mortal Realms, and kicking off with an article on narrative gaming,  we go back to Flashpoint Rondhol for the next instalment in the campaign.  An article about illustrating the Sons of Behemat is then presented, before a Flashpoint Clash puts Ogors against the Daughters of Khaine.  Warcry sees an article on two warbands, being the Claws of Karanak and the Askurgan Trueblades with a lot of additional material.

Necromunda sees the next instalment of their Two Tunnels campaign as a piece of Black Library fiction rounds out the issue.

The Warcry and the Clash where intresting reads in an otherwise not to spectacular issue, but can't have it all in the end...
