And here we are, the final match of the Chaos Dwarfs in the preliminary phase of the club league 2025.
Currently standing at an 8th spot, this game will hopefully tip the balance and get some star player points in addition...
The mission was simple: I needed to win the game, do this by two goals difference, and cause at least three injuries for the maximum of 5 League points to hopefully still qualify for the play-offs, so I will need to keep those Flamesmiths within 3 squares of his treemen to invoke negative modifiers for his Throw Team-Mate rolls... but I only have two Blockers available to keep those trees at bay, and he has nearly half a million of inducements to boot...
It also turned out such a fun and high tempo match, I didn't actually take a lot of pictures during the game...
On the Inducement level, he brought a Hot Pot (which luckily only stole 1 re-roll over the course of the game), a Weather Mage, a Master of Ballistics and oh boy, Deeproot Strongbranch, so I would need to face three of the huge Treemen this game!
And the game started spectacularly, with a Pitch Invasion! Immediatly followed by one of the Halflings getting the ball stuffed in it's meaty hands, before being hurled succesfully away by a Treeman.
The little bugger landed after the accurate throw, and duly ran in, scoring the 1-0 even before the game was well underway, putting the pressure immediatly on the Violators.
A new kick off was taken, the Halflings this time kicking the ball, as a turn was spend due to the Kick off result, urgh.
The Violators started to break open the lines, Carven Loreflame injuring one of the Hefty's.
His treemen kept throwing halflings to try and knock The Raging Trainwreck over who had picked up the ball and moved to the left flank of the field. In return, the goalscorer of the Halflings was put out of the game by my star Bull Centaur.
The Treemen tried to use their teammaters as missiles, as one made a bad landing and sustained an injury. The tree on the left flank had become rooted, and The Raging Trainwreck was off towards the end zone, no Halfling able to catch up to him anymore without their rooted treefriends support, and the little guys where one by one pushed over as the box opened to launch the Bull Centaur.
Hot Milky Nipples on the other hand had one of those days again, not making A SINGLE block during the whole game, either being knocked over by the treemen or rolling a 1 to see if he could activate for a block...
And at the bell of half time, he scored the equalizer, 1-1 with a half to go.
The second half began with a high kick from the Halfling, The Raging Trainwreck failing to catch it. He picked it up in the turn though, as one of the Halflings injured Fixit, causing him to miss next match.
The Raging Trainwreck had moved again to the left flank, but the lumbering treemen moved over.
He switched flanks, but as he needed to make three going-for-its, he stumbled over, without any harm luckily.
The Halflings recovered the ball, but a true scatterfest ensued after a blitz from one of my blockers, who ended up with the ball. The Chaos Dwarf dodged away, trying to put some distance between him and the treemen.
He survived the push from a heap of the Halflings, and again dodging away (he had an Elfish moment) hust hauled the ball to the other side of the pitch. It scattered there, as it wasn't succesfull, but that didn't matter as it was four Chaos Dwarfs on that side, and no Halflings, so with two turns to go I could just pick it up hopefully and run in.
A single Halfling reached The Raging Trainwreck after another treeman completed haul, to try and act as a speedbump as the Blitz had already been made.
But The Raging Trainwreck blitzed the Hefty in the last turn, pushing him away, which was enough, and running in to score the 2-1 for the Violators.
Now all I had to do was hold the line from a throw, so as many as possible took position in the front, with the bull centaurs, the tackler and the shadowing Stabba taking place to protect the end zone.
But the kick off resulted in of all Halflings, the one holding the ball was smacked stunned by the referee (the ball had scattered of the pitch), and to add insult to injury, it fell on his Treeman who caught it... and so making it unable to perform a final throw teammate as he couldn't get the ball to a Halfling and launch him anymore...
And after some pushes and knock overs without any results, the game came to a close...
So, in the end I scored 4 points for the League, now putting me in 7th with 29 points and 2 weeks of preliminary phase to go. The Lizardmen team doesn't have any games planned yet in this end phase, but is on 25 points, now, while the Human team, whom lost to Nurgle, is in 9th with 23 points but still 2 matches on the calendar... I'm not safe yet, but I took a decent step to placing for the quarter finals...
... which will be without Fixit, my Stabba with Block, as he ran into a miss next match. On the other hand, I obtained some new skills, The Raging Trainwreck picking up Diving Tackle from a random Agility roll (how hilarious would it have been if that had been Dodge), Cochones Grande getting Sure Hands, and Carven Loreflame taking Mighty Blow. Finally, the winnings where spend on a fourth re-roll, as well as 3 each of the Assistant Coaches and Cheerleaders to have that chance for some Kick-Off table bonusses.
Now, it is out of my hands, both IF we are pushed off the QF spot on the final moments, as well as who we will be facing... a brutal bunch of high skilled Lizardmen or once more those torpedoe Skaven, but either way a miracle will be needed for not having the season end right there...
