 Time to have another look at an issue of the Games Workshop in home magazine, White Dwarf.

 

At the beginning of the year, at the Aalst Underworlds tournament, I obtained a nice stack of older magazines for nought, and been flicking through them on and off.

 

Now, let's have a look through it after reading them, and have some opinions.  I do say, I am not into the whole 40k universe thing for years, so those won't be getting to much attention on my part for the reading, but the things that caught my intrest I read of course. 

 

And this "enveloppe packed" issue contains the first appearance of The Bunker, a series I came to like a lot as it presents special monthly scenarios for not only the main games, but at times also for the other games they produce, including nice cardboard inserts with them.

 

So after the community pages and a look at iconic characters from the history of Games Workshop's 40k setting, the inaugral Bunker episode kicks off.  This article explains mostly what this is all about, but also gives said scenarios mentioned above, including Warcry material.

 

We move to the far, grim future for the 40k section of the magazine.  This starts with a look at how 10th edition was designed, and how Leviathan came to be. including a battle report putting the Space Marines against the Tyranids.

 

Next we get into the Mortal Realms, with the Tale of Four Warlords and the changes that happened to their armies during the past period.  A guide on the Sylvaneth is also presented, including various paint schemes.  Underworlds receives some attention with Rivals decks suited for the Gnarlwood warbands from first edition.

 

Necromunda is featured before we go to the Forge Bowl, some good Blood Bowl material on the studio league that is being played, before rounding out the issue with some Grombrindal story material.

 

So, the arrival of the Bunker series makes this a must have issue, and the Blood Bowl material was a nice touch, so not a bad issue at all!
