White Dwarf Oktober 2018

Oktober, or Orktober as it is called in all the Warhammer community, is upon us, and as such past friday the new White Dwarf was released.

Surely, this means an issue packed full of Greenskins right?  With that new Speed Freaks game et all underway?

Other "big" releases this month are the Shadespire: Nightvault expansion, a new Eldar vs Ultramarines box and the army book for Beasts of Chaos.

So let`s have a look at what is in the magazine this month...

Planet Warhammer: the new Shadespire expansion is the mainliner in this months set of releases.

Temporal Distort: takes us back to august 2003, where the then new army book for Beasts of Chaos appeared.

Getting Started With... Kill team takes a look at what you need to play this 40k skirmish game.

Opening the Nightvault: an in-depth look at the second box for the Warhammer Underworlds setting.

Illuminations Theatre of War takes a peek at some of the more epic battlefield art over the years

Modelling and Painting: Raise the Standard provides us with a guide of how to make standards, free-handed!

The General's Almanac takes a look at some various tactics to be used in Age of Sigmar

Battle Report: Chaos Resurgent puts the forces of the newly released Beats of Chaos against the Stormcasts

Battle Report: The Gellerpox Uprising takes us through all 4 missions of the Kill team Rogue Trader expansion.

The Ultimate Guide to The Titan Legions provides us with a heap of information on thse mighty, towering war machines.

Battles in Middle-Earth: a look at the difference between narrative, open and matched play in the newest edition of the Middle-Earth strategy game.
On a different yet similar note, the advertising behind this article shows a new LOTR boardgame as well, Quest to Mount Doom, which grabbed my fancy...

Collecting Grotz on da Loose: a "mighty" army of Grotz goes to war

Battleground The Cathedral Chirosius: how a mighty cathedral was build using the Sector Imperialis kits.

Paint Splatter: Warhound Scout Titan

Reader's Models and In The Bunker

So, an issue that leaves me with very mixed feelings.  While it has some decent articles, nothing this month really caught my attention or had a certain "waw-ness" to it.  Perhaps the Kill team battle report is the best read on first sight.

And for Orktober, there wasn`t a single ork in that issue...
