We're back reading more adventures of our favorite slime, Rimuru Tempest, and the challenges he faces to have the Jura Forest Nation becoming a peaceful country for monsters of all sorts.
And now faced with the plans of a few demon lords to make him their marionet, he must find a way to avoid this, and strike back at them.
One of those is the beastmaster Carrion, a warrior demon lord, who had his subordinate Phobios approached by one of the mysterious clown allies of demon lord Clayman. With Charybdis now reawakened, it floats towards the city of Tempest.
Rimuru and his friends start forming a plan for when the huge beast arrives, and how to defend their home, while keeping the non-combatants safe from harm. The battle is joined, and after hours it still stands at a stalemate. They manage to defeat the followers of Charybdis, but the beast itself seemingly is to much to overcome for Rimuru as well. They discover though that Phobios is the vessel, hunting for Milim and not for the city itself. Rimuru allows Milim to step in, but asks her to hold back to save Phobios, and she makes short work of Charybdis in a heartbeat.
Rimuru manages to seperate the body of Phobios and the essence of Charybdis, and it turns out the battle was spectated by Carrion himself, who apologises for the trouble his subordinate caused. This results in the signong of a non-agression pack between both nations. But then the day comes Milim needs to return to the other Demon Lords, intend on telling them to leave Tempest alone. Rimuru realises he has a journey to make as well now...
To where? That is something for volume 9...
