Het Lekkere Westen Biergids

 Okay, so this little beer guide, focussing on the beers of our province of West Flanders, actually came as a suprise to me.

I saw it pass on a Facebook add, and usually those are just clickbaits.  Smack a famous person on the front (in this case, Dominique Persoone, a world famous belgian chocolatier), and nothing ever happens afterwards.

But never the less, I filled in the form, and a few weeks later the booklet fell in my mailbox, send out by the tourist services of West Flanders.  Neat!  Now, considering the hop region of Belgium is in that area, there are of course some beers I die to discover, maybe even a trip to the Poperinge region should be placed on the agenda this year or so.

The booklet takes us across the various regions of West-Flanders, starting in Bruges (they have a guided walk along various breweries, I MUST do that one day!!) and going to the various regions from there on.  This is done with interviews of people in the business, being bar owners, local breweries, restaurants and such, as well as regional celebrities telling what they like about beer.

Mixing this all up are go to guides for hotspots in the regions, being either beer bars, restaurants that serve local beers and intresting walking and cycling routes that take you along beer places.

For a free book, this is a truly awesome little creation, high quality, very informative and with a lot of good to knows if you are a "beer tourist", so it might defintily be worth to pick it up by going to the site of the tourism service of West Flanders.
