Mallorca holiday report

Aaand we are back, back from 10 days of sun, sea and relaxation...

Me and Noshi went to Hotel Club Santa Ponca, in well, Santa Ponca, and where greated by the beautifull blue bay as the airplane approached the Balearic island.

Settling in, we where greeted by a fantastic view on the bay from the terrace of our spatious studio...

We went of course for the all-in formula, and the club offered a wide buffet thrice a day, including a great desert table every time.

Which we could eat with the superb view of the restaurant balcony...

Day 1 - Friday

On our first day, we did what every tourist does, namely reconnoitre the area around the hotel.  The sea was right at the bottom of the hill on which the hotel was located, and you had a lot of small sand and rock beaches in the area.

There is also a Pirate themed hotel in the village...

Another option to go to the hotel was to climb the stairs... once... and then we opted to use the snaking road instead hehehe.

Day 2 - Saturday

Mallorca is also an odd island, as you seem to need to stock your wine bottles inside your dog, while stairs seem to be optional to reach your front door...

But it also has some nice old ruins actually in the area

We spend this day enjoying the swimming pool and a good day of rest

Day 3 - Sunday

Today we decided to go to the party village of the island, Magaluf.  Now truth to be told, during the daytime.

It does have a hotel with an awesome looking pool though...

But that didn`t stop us enjoying a good cocktail

At night, we attended the musical show brought by the animation team of the hotel, and it was actually quite good...

Day 4 - Monday

Another nice and calm day today, in which we did some local walks and booked our excursions for the next days as this day was rather cloudy unfortunatly

Day 5 - Tuesday

Okay, this was a bummer day... we booked the TUI Island tour, and it was a total rip-off.  Of the 10 hours we where away, we actually only spend 1.5 hour not riding one thing or the other... with the absolute record of a 6 minute (!!!!!!) stay in Port de Soller.

We did visit the monastery of Lluc, a very lovely place.

Next we went to the Pareis trench near Sa Calobra, where all the natural water of the mountains gather and go into the sea.

From there we took a ferry to the above mentioned Port de Soller.

Arriving there, we where put on a tram up the mountain to Soller itself, only to spend 20 minutes staring in the station for a train to bring us back down to Palma.

Now that train itself is rather pretty, a wooden constructed one from 1929, and with some awesome views.

Day 6 - Wednesday

The second excursion we did, and this one was worth the money though.  First we went to the market at Sengui, where a lot of local specialties are traded.

From there, we drove to the Caverns of Hams, the first cave system to be publically opened to the world in the beginning of the 19th century, and an absolute stunner.

Afterwards, we went tot the high panoramic view of Formentor.

The day ended with me and Noshi participating in the movie quiz at the hotel... which we promptly won and the bottle of cava price was downed as a result afterwards on our balcony.

Day 7 - Thursday

Today Noshi and me went to the Wild Western Aquapark in Magaluf, a day of waterslides and rides.  being past the high season peak, there where perhaps 150 visitors in the whole parc that day, making waiting times non-existant...

Day 8 - Friday

The last trip we did on our holiday, we went to Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the island.

The old cathedral was the first place we visited.

We also found a wargame store there, which had some older sets as well

But the accidental find of the day was the Neko Neko anime store.  They had a large selection of various ranges, and I got a gift from Noshi which you'll see in next week's Haul Report.

Unfortunatly, it also teared open an old wound, but that is a story for another time...

Day 9 - Saturday

Our last day, and while we stayed the afternoon in the hotel for a final enjoyment of the swimming pool, many Chikorita where caught in the early day, as it was Pokemon community day.

And then the sun went down over the island and over our holiday, as the morning after we would be flying back to cold and rainy Belgium...

It was a great holiday, and while my skin refuses stubbornly to tan still, the batteries have been loaded to face winter...
