A 6 part theatrical release series of 1+ hours each, this is the viewpoint from the other side, on what happened and made Zeon the faction it became by the time of the original Gundam series back in 1977.
The hero of the story, "Edouard Mass", better known as Char Aznable
Plot (from the official site)
What was the tragedy that decided the fates
of Char Aznable, the man later nicknamed the "Red Comet" as an ace
pilot of the Zeon forces, and his sister Sayla Mass?
The two siblings' journeys, brought on by the sudden death of their
father Zeon Zum Deikun who was a leader of the Spacenoids, are depicted
in the four episodes of "Chronicle of Char and Sayla."
The Zabi family who seize control of Side 3 and lead the Principality of
Zeon, the early days of many renowned Zeon ace pilots who later fight
in the One Year War, the secrets of mobile suit development, conflicts
with the Earth Federation Forces, and the road leading to the outbreak
of war—all will be revealed.
What I liked about it
* how Char got involved with characters that define him, like how he is actually a Dekun and his ties to the Zabu family.
* the backstory of the development of Mobile Suits, incl prof Minovsky and the start of the RX78 project
* The zesome space battle at Loum, greatly animated
What I didn`t like about it
* Nothing, this was a straight sit back and marvel in the show series. But if I have to name something, it's perhaps the long waiting times that where between the various instalments.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenI watched all 6 this year, no waiting between instalments for me :p
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt was interesting seeing characters played differently - Zeon Zum Daikun was more of a raving fanatic than I previously had him pegged as, same with the head of the Ral family! Much love for Ramba Ral in everything he’s in though...
Have you watched Thunderbolt?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, loved the jazzy theme of the series and the rather "hard" use of the Zeon injureds
