KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!

So, I participated in MAL's secret santa, and along the ecchi To Love Ru this anime was my recommendation gift.

In the Secret santa, you gave and received anime titles that your person might like, based on a questionaire you filled in, and of course I that meant I went in and finally started watching the adventures of Megumin, Aqua and the others.

I had heard already many good things about this series, and while lingering on my Plan to Watch list, this was the incentive to give it an actual look.

Kazuma Satou is a NEET who one day dies a laughable, pathetic death by trying to save a girl being run over by a tractor.  Except that tractor was coming nowhere near her, stopped in time and he just died of shock.  He is ressurected in the afterlife where the goddess Aqua gives him the choice: heaven or isekai.  He choses the latter, where he must immediatly defeat a Demon King.  As a reward for doing so, he picks Aqua as his reward, only to find out she is completely useless!

In their first monster encounter, a giant frog, she nearly gets eaten... twice. They decide to look for allies in their party, and are approached by Megumin, an explosive magic mage, and go back to try and hunt giant frogs.  But after she casts her spell, she nearly passes out from using her power, and both Megumin and Aqua are now in danger for Kazuma to be saved.  They learn Megumin can use her power just once a day though...

A final person answer their recruitment, Darkness, an older girl and Crusader.  While confident in her skills, she gets anxious around people, and is a serious masochist.  Kazuma unlocks a profession, becoming a Thief, managing to steal the panties of his teacher (though he aimed for her dagger)!  They are summoned for an emergency quest as the city comes under by flying cabbages.

He trains with Megumin for her magic, but this turns out to be the castle of Dullahan, leader of the Demon King army, who is pretty pissed that his home is being bombarded on a daily basis.  He wants to curse Megumin, but Darkness intervenes which will cause her to die in a week's time.  Aqua however lifts the curse, much to the frustration of Dullahan who feels he is becoming a failure of an evil general.  The group engages him, with all their quirks making it a hilarious fight.

But then one day he finds himself in front of Eris, seemingly having died again, and he gets the chance to return to Japan to live a normal life.  But as he looks back on his allies, he chooses not to take on the offer and returns to them.  Meeting a lich that runs a shop in town, they learn how the barrier to attack the demon king's castle has to be taken down.

They are offered a landhouse to reside in, IF they can exorcise it first.  They succeed, but later Kazuma finds himself in a succubi establishment, resulting in him to close a deal for a good dream.  But he starts acting weird, as it turns out an inexperienced succubus broke in and tried to control him.  But then Destroyer, an ancient relic that destroys all in it's path, is heading towards town.  As they prepare, Kazuma learns the true identity of Darkness as well.  They take down the machine, but it initiates a self-destruct device.  Together with Wiz (the lich shopkeeper) and Aqua they enter the machine and teleport the core away, but the machine still starts overheating... and accidentally ending it up at the overlord's mansion, resulting in him being arrested.

This really is a fun series, and I will definitly be watching the OVA's and second season this year in between the alphabet challenge.

And perhaps collect a series of figures from the heroes...
