An anime from the previous season, this is apparently an ecchi harem fantasy school series, so that is rather a mouthfull.
But they got me at ecchi...
Long time ago, the demon lord was defeated by a hero, ending his reign of terror. The hero then went on and founded Rosewood Academy, an institute to train young heroes to help and protect the world. Earnest Flaming, the "Empress of Flames" is a loyal top student at the academy, who one day runs into the carefree boy Blade. As he seems equal in power to her, to her chagrin, she is asked to oversee his ways at the academy, by order of the King personally. But he seems to know Blade personally, and that he is actually the great hero himself, with his powers dormant. But when Earnest is about to duel him during training, she suddenly passes out, due to her demon sword Asmodeus.
With Blade's help, she manages to overcome the demon sword's corrupting influence, bringing in a calmer demaenor in Earnest. Sophie, an introvert student, is assigned to Blade for her training. The King reveals to Blade that she is actually an artificially created great hero, using long lost technology and magics. As they start their actual training, they get into talks what it actually is to be the Great Hero, and that Blade struggles with being the one due to those he couldn't save.
He meets a dragon girl in class, which turns out to be Cu Cuchlain, and sees Blade as her parent as it changes into a little girl. She sticks with Blade, moving into his quarters. But as she seemingly remembered most of the students at school, something Blade didn't notice as she just needs friends, he realises she clings to him as he is the one that defeated her. And dragons can`t acknowledge someone weaker then themselves. As such, Cu Cuchlain faces off against the students, and as they defeat her in the end befriends them all.
However, Earnest has taken to an eating desserts craze as a result, becoming to overweight and put on a diet by her classmates, but still struggles with Asmodeus powers. Blade is slowly recovering himself to his former powers, as he has to solve issues amongst his classmates like the klutzy mage Maria. But this turns her into a demoness, forcing Blaze to go to his limit, as she is the daughter of his old rival the Demon King. An old friend of Blade, the centaur Dione, also joins the school as an instructor. And the class's skills are tested when an egg needs to be hatched of two sacred birds.
But studying and regaining his powers in peace and quiet isn't put aside for Blade, as soon after a robot girl appears looking for him and wanting to serve him. But the robot, Iona, only has limited time left before her self-destruct engages. But Blade went to persuade the Mother computer, making it so Iona doesn`t die. During a school testing tournament, Blade quickly takes down the other students, bar Leonard. Well, for a few seconds at least. This leads to the students forming a council to finally defeat Blade in some contest, picking Leonard as their champion. And fail in doing so, even when they all unleash their powers.
For their next test, they must enter a wilderness and survive on their own while killing rampant monsters. This makes them all learning to work together better and play to each others skills, while his classmates want to figure and celebrate Blade's birthday. But then suddenly more Sophie's start showing up, trying to assassinate Blade. They are ordered to do this to prove that Artificial Great Heroes are better then the real Great Hero. Blade's Sophie manages to stop them, as she explains to him who those girls actually are and how they where created.
Sophie runs off from the academy, but Blade and his friends decide to go after her and help her with her issues. Issuing a challenge, Blade faces them and defeats the girls, but they run out of time, dying as they all followed their own instinct, their creator long passed away. Together with Blade, they manage to draw out the power of the eldest of the siblings, Une, restoring them at the last moment into Sophie.
Okay, so this is basically My Hero Academia, with Kirito as the main character, set in a fantasy world... and not at all that good. Would I watch any follow up seasons? Sure, for completeness sake, but I won't be pouncing on it upon release as it was in the end pretty average.
