Kiss Me First

Recently found on Netflix, Noshi and me sat down for this 6 part British mini-series from 2018.

To give you a quick idea of what to exect: Ready Player One meets Black Mirror!

The story turns around Leila, a 17 year old girl who recently lost her mother and is addicted like so many others to the Virtual reality game Azana (which btw gave me a Project Entropia feel from years ago).  Here she meets a group of loners and outcasts who aren't in the game for the battling and violence, but guided by Adrian look for a better place.

But then suddenly some of the group start dying in the outside world, and Leila is looking deeper into it.  This catches her in a web of intrigue and deception, as the blame seems to be slowly shifting towards her.  With the help of her flatmate Jonty and her ingame became reallife friend Tess, she tries to get to the bottom of the mysterious events happening around her, and why she has been chosen to become the middlepoint of it all...

Well, always count on British series to take it all one level "deeper" in intrigue and social tensioning compared to a lot of US made series.  I guess it's a way of how they tell stories, british series tend to be much rawer with less plot armour, not necessarily for the life of the characters itself, but definitly for their mental health...

While the series ends with an open ending, as Adrian is still around (and we never got to see him in the flesh), or why the players often see the Azana sky in the real world, this was a ture joy to watch and was binged by us in a single go...
